About Denton
Denton, the Denton County seat, is on I-35 where it splits into 35E and 35W. It wasn't an early settlement: it was founded in 1857 specifically to be the county seat near the center of the county, on 100 acres donated by Hiram Cisco, William Woodruff and William Loving. Census estimates show it growing from about 139,900 residents in 2020 to 169,400 in 2025.
