Southlake roof replacements are permitted and inspected
The City of Southlake requires a building permit to replace a roof. Here's what its February 2026 roof replacement guidelines say:
- The contractor has to be registered with the city as a general contractor ($100 registration).
- The permit is filed online, and the permit fee is $100.
- The permit card has to be posted where it's visible from the road.
- When the job is done, the contractor requests a final inspection, either with photos or in person. In person, the inspector checks the roof from the ground and checks attic appliance vents.
The city also tells homeowners to check references and be cautious with contractors who want payment up front. We agree. [CONFIRM: are you registered as a general contractor with the City of Southlake?]

Northeast Tarrant County hail
Tarrant County had more than 500 NOAA hail reports from 2016 through mid-2026, including 115 at golf-ball size or larger. The largest was 5-inch hail in June 2023. After a storm, we inspect and photograph your roof, and if you file a claim, we meet your adjuster on the roof. You pay your deductible, as Texas law requires. See storm inspections.
More than the roof
Southlake homeowners often combine a new roof with siding, windows, exterior paint, or a pergola, outdoor kitchen or pool house. We do all of it, so one crew plans the colors and materials. Keep in mind that Southlake also requires permits for many accessory structures, patio covers, window replacements and siding.
A community built around its schools
Southlake (about 31,175 residents in the 2025 Census estimate) is closely tied to Carroll ISD, a district that dates to 1959 and grew out of the community's 1919 Carroll School. Lots of families here are in their homes for the long haul, which is a good reason to pick a roof for how long it'll last, not just the lowest price.
