About Palo Pinto
Palo Pinto is the Palo Pinto County seat, on U.S. 180 and Farm Road 4 about twelve miles southwest of Mineral Wells. Settlers arrived in 1855 for the fertile Brazos Valley soil, and a legislative act of August 27, 1856 formed the county with a seat to be named Golconda, within five miles of the center. Palo Pinto is a Census-designated place, not an incorporated city, so the Census Bureau publishes no annual population estimate for it.
